ever wonder why we have only met 1?

simple answer to the question is that they all are in Illian telling their best stories to win gold.

but still. we have seen the points of view from so many people, in so many cities. its just weird that we have not seen any other Gleemen.

Also....

I am curious to know who trained Thom. for both of his skill sets.

who trained him to be such a good Gleemen, court bard.

and who trained him to be so good at the great game.

he has being doing both for a long time. and has been good at both for as long as we have heard about him. so i don't think its just something he has just picked up.

also another thing i find odd. No stage shows, plays.
no actors.

my best guess is that Jordan, would rather have a story teller tell the tale then some "artist" give their point of view. even the Romans had stage shows. thoughts?

im just curious.

maybe there has been a interview where it has been asked. but i have not seen them. and Josh has not been on lately.

look at TGH in cairhien. There ARE stage shows, of which Thom is being quite contemptuous. Something like :

"They are pretending to be Rogosh Eagle-Eye for the public. I make the public feel like THEY are Rogosh."

These are dark times, and thus hard for entertainers, I would think.

Still, it would be cool if some of the main characters attend into a stage show/gleeman story telling of themselves. I'm thinking something like the episode in Avatar: The Last Airbender, where the gang watches a play of their deeds thus far, and are horrified by their portrayals.

i remember the "show" your talking about Shaltilyena. but Thom seemed to be talking about it like it was something new.
so i did not count it as a real show.

There is probably not a very big market for gleemen in Randland. Even Thom was a court bard before he got fired. He probably became good at the great game while he lived at the palace.

But yeah, Thom is one obscure character. We don't know a lot about his past. He seems to have an understanding with Moraine even though they don't have any major interaction. He went into hiding when Moraine first came to two rivers in EotW, which is queer.

i think a lot of the gleeman decided to either stay in illian since the hunt for the horn is going on and best recidal wins a lot of money also some are prolly in other adventures with ppl trying to find the horn
and as far as i know thom might have learned the game while he was with morgase
there where actors but thas was pretty new and most prolly stopped soon after carhein got invaded by aiel

I thought it was rather funny that Thom disdained something that became very popular in our dimension

i know that thom was the house bard before house trakand had the throne, so maybe he learned the great game from observing the nobles in house trakand

i think thom was in the great game before he became a court-bard....i thing of TGH, thom was thinking how it had been a long time since he had to answer questions in the Game, but why would the court bard have nobles asking him questions?

as for why we havent seen more gleemen....they are for common people. everyone in the story is either suuperr powerful and noble or pretending to be noble (being an Aes Sedai counts as being normal)

but we have seen alot of singers. It seems like all of the inns have a somewhat slutty girl singing and dancing on a table

I do like to bump threads. It is interesting to come back to something after you haven't thought about it for a while.
