The Jumara grow up to be real dragons, and Rand/Lews Therin knows the secret on how to get them to mature.

(I guess Canadians don't get Google service?)

I guess I would question if this 'maturing' suddenly puts them under the persons control? Otherwise wouldnt see the point of strengthening my enemy. I also found it interesting that Fain can cut these things down like theyre nothing.

Dude will be making waves in AMoL!

Dragons are automatically under the control of The Dragon!

This is a legitimate question but is there evidence in the series where LTT ever controlled dragons (again, have not done a reread in quite a while)? And were they a creation of Aginor?

I don't think real 'dragons' will make an appearance.

Being an American, I went ahead and Googled my second question. The answer is yes and Jumara is also the second month in the Farede calendar.

After a loooong time....here's an interview quote.

They know that the banner that has a certain creature on it was the banner of this man and they have taken to calling this creature the dragon. To them it is a simple association with the name of this man.

just 1 more way that BS could wreck the series if he really wanted to.

I was thinking earlier today, remember when the Darkhounds are attacking in Rhudien and they are going after Mat, but Rand notices that they avoid stepping on the Aes Sedai symbol? Did we ever find out what was up with that?

Josh - That quote sounds like it only applies to Rand's current world. The Dragons on Rand's arms and the Dragon Banner prove that at least the concept had to have been there at some point in time. Maybe they are just one of those things that has been forgotten over time, possibly a creature from the age before the AOL. Could be just like our own dragon mythology, some creature created in our minds from genetic memory or possibly from the existence of fossils. Our own time is supposed to be a part of the Wheel, right? In any case, I think we can give up on seeing dragons in WoT.

JD94- I do remember that. Don't think it was ever explained, but it obviously wasn't important enough to do so. Just one of those things. I don't remember which book it was, possibly TGH, one of the earlier books for sure, where they saw ruins of some ancient city high on a mountain, and I always wondered what city it was and wanted to know more about it, but I guess I never will.

Perhaps they're some extinct creature that AoL archaeologists dug up. After all, there are always mentions of carvings and images of long-dead animals and plants decorating Aes Sedai quarters.

And I agree, I hope Branderson doesn't introduce real dragons, or make Rand turn into a dragon, or some such silly nonsense.

If Harriet wanted dragons in WOT, she probably would have hired Margaret Weis instead of Brandon to finish the series.
